Redmine Task #1907 (Assigned): Check speaker magnet interference with IMU/Compasshttps://roboticsclub.org/redmine/issues/19072011-11-07T21:48:08ZDan Shopedshope@andrew.cmu.edu

Will placing a small speaker near the compass (less than 1" away) cause interference due to the magnetic fields?

If so, how can we mitigate this? - Calculations, numerical values of separation, etc.
Bug #1806 (Wontfix): Gumstix Memory Changehttps://roboticsclub.org/redmine/issues/18062011-10-11T16:05:34ZDan Shopedshope@andrew.cmu.edu

FYI, new Gumstix boards have changed hardware
http://www.gumstix.org/hardware-design/product-changes-known-issues-a-eol/66-product-change-notices/196-2011-product-change-notices.html

The current image will not boot on these devices. Find out what we need to do to make the new hardware bootable.
Task #1798 (Assigned): Mechanical Work Loghttps://roboticsclub.org/redmine/issues/17982011-10-09T07:57:04ZDan Shopedshope@andrew.cmu.edu

Create undercut latch for hood (center, recess on front lip)

Increase height of hood scoop (aesthetic)

Model hood/switch as multibody part so changes to hood geometry propagate to buttons

Use offset surface so "1" and "2" cuts are constant distance from top surface

Create "V" pivot on button piece, and corresponding "V" cutout on hood

Create a slide-on locking piece to prevent button from falling out of hood

Check wiring clearances inside rear chassis - some difficulty assembling right now
<del>* Change ScoutFly fasteners (4) to small thread forming screws, check clearance with headlights</del>
<del>* Design triangular number flag on Sonar stem</del>
<del>** Print a paper label and slide in one side, wraps around all 3 sides</del>

Label should have number (ex "101") AND allocation for naming (ex "Mr. Bickles")

name in small font, need to determine character limit, number in large font

Enhancement #1797 (Assigned): Design SmartFly Smart Acessory Reference Boardhttps://roboticsclub.org/redmine/issues/17972011-10-08T03:34:26ZDan Shopedshope@andrew.cmu.edu

Based on Arduino Pro Mini (schematic) - see http://www.roboticsclub.org/redmine/projects/colonyscout/wiki/ECESmartAccessoryRefDesign
Enhancement #1796 (Assigned): Audio Command & Output Accessoryhttps://roboticsclub.org/redmine/issues/17962011-10-08T03:01:36ZDan Shopedshope@andrew.cmu.edu

Microphone + Speaker output, possible use a speech generation chip and/or voice recognition chip OR load software onto gumstix. Talk to ScoutFly over I2C and relay audio samples/recognized commands, provide verbal output for user feedback.
Task #1793 (Fixed): Create mockup for Cliff Sensor Testinghttps://roboticsclub.org/redmine/issues/17932011-10-07T08:57:56ZDan Shopedshope@andrew.cmu.edu

Build a mock Scout (or provide dimensions to MechE team) that holds (3) cliff sensors for testing.
Task #1789 (Fixed): Test Cliff Sensorshttps://roboticsclub.org/redmine/issues/17892011-10-06T06:01:56ZDan Shopedshope@andrew.cmu.edu

Option 1:
Wire cliff sensors directly to LEDs, move across different surfaces and record behavior (false positives, false negatives, etc)

Option 2:
Wire cliff sensors into a microcontroller, also wiring in IR reflectance sensors as a control, and log values while moving across different surfaces

Option 3:
Scrap cliff sensors :)

For all tests there should be (3) cliff sensors assembled onto a fake Scout model that holds the sensors in the proper orientation and relative positions, elevated above the ground like on a Scout.

A detailed log should be maintained to figure out activation patterns and potentially troublesome surfaces (high rate of false positives).

Test on any reasonable floor surface - concrete, glossy tile, white tables, plywood, wood flooring in the TV lounge, etc.

Task #1777 (Fixed): Parts Order for Fall Prototype Testinghttps://roboticsclub.org/redmine/issues/17772011-10-03T18:44:21ZDan Shopedshope@andrew.cmu.edu
