Overview
The RobOrchestra Project seeks to create instruments that can not only play themselves, but also work together to create their own music. The ultimate goal is to create a full band, with at least one instrument to cover the roles of Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass, and Rhythm.
The project has completed two instruments, a penny-whistle robot and a trombone-like robot. An algorithm for creating the parts for each instrument to play has also been made.
There is still much more to do on the project. Instruments to cover the other voices are in the design stages as well as improvements to the improv algorithm are being devised.
