Installing Ros¶

1. Get Ubuntu Linux¶

(Testing on 11.10 Ocelot 64-bit)

• 1. Download and Install ubuntu.

2. Install ROS¶

• http://www.ros.org/wiki/electric/Installation/Ubuntu

Quirks noted below:
1. Run the complete ros-electric-desktop-full
*ros-electric-desktop-full takes forever. be prepared for it. On our retest, it took 1.5 hours.

3. Go through ROS tutorials.¶

• Become familiar with ROS packages, topics, nodes, etc.
• Most importantly, complete Tutorial 1, setting up your ROS environment.

4. Proceed to tutorial 2, Setting up RGBD-slam.¶
