Applying for SURG

  1. Go to http://www.cmu.edu/uro/SURG/index.html#surg
  2. Click on "Register!" link
    1. It will ask you to log in via WebISO
  3. Under the "Add a new project" menu, select "SURG"
  4. Click "Add Project" button
  5. Fill in the forms - it's ok to fill in Abstract and to upload document later
    1. Title
    2. Abstract
    3. Current Files (the actual Proposal)
    4. Request Amount (the value should be ~$1000)
    5. Project Period
      1. e.g. Fall 2010
    6. Invite people by andrewID
      1. George's andrewID is gkantor, invite him as advisor
  6. We are also required to submit one full copy of your proposal (including budget and letter of support from your advisor) by the published deadline to the URO office at 531 Warner Hall.

Applying for Meeting of the Minds

  1. Go to http://www.cmu.edu/uro/MoM/index.html
  2. Click on "Register!" link
    1. It will ask you to log in via WebISO
  3. Under the "Add a new project" menu, select "Symposium"
  4. Copy information from corresponding SURG project
    1. Title, Abstract, Members
  5. For "Event", select Symposium for appropriate year
  6. For "Presentation Type", select "Oral Presentation" or "Poster Presentation"
  7. For "Competitions", see http://www.cmu.edu/uro/MoM/competitions.html for details
    1. We usually enter: IBM, Lockheed Martin, Sigma Xi

Reserving NSH 1109

  1. contact Sumitra Gopal (receptionist at RI) at
  2. ask to reserve NSH 1109:
    1. on behalf of the Colony project in the Robotics Club
    2. specify weekly time
    3. ask to reserve until the end of the current semester

Mailing List(s)

  1. Go to https://lists.andrew.cmu.edu
  2. Click on "Administer My Lists"
  3. Click on RC-colony (normal use) and/or RC-colony-new (new members)
  4. To view members/subscribers
    1. Click "Membership Management"
  5. To add members/subscribers
    1. Click "Membership Management"
    2. Click "Mass Subscription"
    3. Radio Buttons should be "Subscribe, Yes, No"
    4. Using the top text box, enter one new email address per line
    5. When finished, click "Submit Your Changes" at the bottom
  6. To remove members/subscribers
    1. Click "Membership Management"
    2. Click "Mass Subscription"
    3. Radio Buttons should be "No, No"
    4. Using the text box, enter one email address per line
    5. When finished, click "Submit Your Changes" at the bottom
  7. To add/remove administrators
    1. Go to "General Options" Section (default first page)
    2. Add or remove email addresses from second text box.
    3. When finished, click "Submit Your Changes" at the bottom

Adding people to repository

  1. ssh into roboclub.org (roboclub8.frc.ri.cmu.edu)
    1. you must have sudo permissions on roboclub8
  2. run add_user_to_repo.sh in /home/rc99/
    1. ./add_user_to_repo.sh colony user1,user2,user3,...
    2. this will create an account for them on roboclub8 with password g...
    3. the script will send them an emailing telling them to change their password

Adding people to Redmine

  1. you must have Redmine administrator privileges
  2. go the "New user" page: http://www.roboticsclub.org/redmine/users/new
  3. fill in all fields
  4. two options for password
    1. set to g... and tell them to change it
    2. let them enter their password on this screen

Adding people to Colony project on Redmine

  1. add them to Redmine first
  2. two options
    1. go to the Colony setting page: http://www.roboticsclub.org/redmine/projects/colony/settings
      1. add via the "New member" section on the right
    2. go to Redmine users page: http://www.roboticsclub.org/redmine/users
      1. find and click on user from list
      2. go to "Projects" tab
      3. add via "New project" section on right
