Using their CMU Student ID a member must place their ID into the RFID reader slot to use the power tool. The member is looked up based upon their RFID and whether they are authorized to use the tool. If the member is not recognized or authorized no power is provided to the tool, otherwise power is provided. In order to assure safety, the tool automatically turns off if it turns on power to a tool that was left in the on state by a previous member.
